As well as the usual conditions to consider during massage, pregnancy carries extra precautions.
Massage is considered to be a safe treatment to give during a ‘normal’ pregnancy. If you have a history of miscarriage or difficulties during pregnancy you should discuss any alternate therapies with your midwife and doctor before attending. In these cases you will need to provide your therapist with a letter from your doctor confirming that you are able to receive a treatment. Letters are availbale for Holistic Treats to send to you so you can ask your doctor to complete your details and sign.
After 4 months of pregnancy with a history of miscarriage massage can be given as normal.
If you experience any of the following you must seek medical advice and no treatment can be given: persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, headaches combined with oedema and aversion to bright lights, pain and tenderness in the legs, fever with abdominal and/or back pain, painful urination, extreme itching, lasting oedema, heper/ hypotension.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask, it is always best to put your anxieties to rest before you arrive for your treatment.
