The inspiration for creating massage workshops has come from hearing from people that much of their spare time and that of their families is spent using screens in one form or another and the concern that particularly children are not learning key social interaction skills.
Massage is not just a luxury treatment to be saved for a spa day, it is a beneficial treatment that can help prevent ill health, reduce stress and relieve tension. The more regularly these treatments are taken, the greater the benefits. Accessing a professional treatment is not always achievable with busy schedules and differing budgets, particularly on a daily basis.
Whilst I would never say don’t see your therapist again I would highly recommend learning some basic skills to use on your friends and family to increase social connection, provide on the spot practical help for muscular discomfort or just as something nice to do for someone else.
Shell creates bespoke massage workshops depending on group size and needs.
To inspire you;
A family group of 5, varying ages, can learn a fully clothed, seated, gentle touch massage
A room of carers learn a simple hand and foot massage to use on their clients
A couple want to improve their confidence in easing out some after work tension and feel as though they are spending time with each other rather than just beside each other
Each workshop will include safety and set up information including consent and how to all stay comfortable. A massage demonstration will be given and then you will all have the opportunity to be guided through trying out the techniques for yourselves. Along the way there will be time for questions and there will be a key notes handout to take away with you too.
